{"id":12493,"date":"2016-05-13T00:20:02","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T00:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eatlovemove.net\/wordpress3\/?p=12493"},"modified":"2016-05-13T00:23:09","modified_gmt":"2016-05-13T00:23:09","slug":"preparing-to-fly-13-1-miles-on-foot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eatlovemove.net\/wordpress3\/2016\/05\/13\/preparing-to-fly-13-1-miles-on-foot\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing to Fly &#8211; 13.1 miles on foot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\t<section class=\"row section \">\n\t\t<div class=\"row-content buffer even clear-after\">\n\t\t\t\n<p>In the 1800\u2019s Cincinnati was called \u201cPorkopolis\u201d because of all the stockyards and the meat packing industry.\u00a0 In fact, they often ran pigs through the downtown streets.\u00a0 <!--more-->In the 1980\u2019s when the riverfront was being developed, they commissioned a nationally renowned sculptor\/artist to design something that was indicative of Cincinnati\u2019s history and we now have Flying Pigs welcoming you to the riverfront.\u00a0 When the founders of the marathon were looking for a name for the event back in \u201897 \u201cFlying Pig\u201d brought smiles to everyone\u2019s face so that seemed most appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>My training is complete, now I wait until Sunday @ 6:30am to run through the streets of downtown celebrating accomplishment.
